The capital of Scotland, Edinburgh is well known for its architecture and stunning views. Edinburgh hosts the annual Edinburgh Festival during August and the Edinburgh Fringe, the Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo as well as hosting the Edinburgh International Book Festival. The Hogmanay street party is a another major event which attracts visitors from all over the world. The historic centre of Edinburgh is split into two by Princes Street Gardens. To the south the view is dominated by Edinburgh Castle with the long sweep of the Old Town along the ridge. To the north lies Princes Street and the New Town. Leith is the port of Edinburgh.
