Finches are small birds with forked and sometimes notched tails, pointed wings, rounded bodies and round heads. They usually have triangular bills. The bill shape depends upon the type of food, from short and rounded to long and sharp. Finches are agile and feed while perching on and sometimes hanging from plants while others are ground feeders, but most feed on insects from foliage. The species include Brambling, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Crossbill, Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Hawfinch, Lesser redpoll, Linnet, Mealy redpoll, Parrot crossbill, Scarlet rosefinch, Scottish crossbill, Serin, Siskin and Twite.
