Photographs of Lapwings in flight and on the ground. Lapwings are declining in numbers possibly due to modern farming techniques. They breed in loose colonies, and gather in flocks during the winter. If you are lucky, you will see a lapwing bird stamping its foot to attract insects and spiders as well as earthworms. Lapwings breed on wet moorland, upland fields, farmland and next to rivers. In winter they move south and west of Scotland. The pics of lapwings below were taken in the Perthshire area of Scotland or on the West coast near Seil Island. |
