Photographs of swallows seen in Scotland. Swallows are slim, fast and graceful in flight. They have long forked tails, a red chin and pointed wings. They turn in flight on a sixpence, catching insects as they go. They build mud nests on rocks or buildings, so can be seen in spring collecting mud from puddles. They are widespread in Scotland, from April to September. They sing all the time, with a twittering sound. The pics of swallows below were mostly taken in Perthshire.
